In lieu of running, I trekked to Batad including Tappia Falls last Sunday as part of my North Luzon round trip. How was it? Quite TIRING!
I arrived in Banaue past 10 AM and wasn’t able to ride the passenger jeepney to Batad Saddle, the starting trek up in the mountains for Batad. Instead, I hired a tricycle (P300) and walked starting at Batad Junction, a 5.8 KM distance all the way to Batad town.
While it was a leisurely trek with spectacular views, it was the hike from Rita’s Inn at the ridge going to Tappia Falls that was quite demanding. Punishing, should be the right word to describe it. Just imagine, almost 85 degree descents (and ascents when going back) over cement steps and it was really one hell of a walk!
However, once I reached the falls, the water was just cool and soothing that all trace of tiredness was gone. I spent around 30 minutes there, sitting in the water and just cooling off. Preparing for the steep ascent to come.
This is my second time to visit this beautiful place. The first time was quite memorable. Check that unexpected experience in langyaw.com.
