Registration forms for the 5K race are still available

The countdown to the much awaited Cebu City Marathon 2010 is gearing up with organizers already distributing race packs for 5K participants at Ayala Center Cebu’s Active Zone which opened today, 6 January until the 8th. 21K and 42K pack distribution will be on the 7th.

This major marathon event in the premier city expects almost 4,000 participants and because of the sheer number, the organizers have stopped accepting registrations for the 21K and the 42K events. For those who are interested to join, only the 5K event is open and registrants need to pay P200 to enter. For the singlets, they have to get it at the Asiatown IT Park for P150.

In the spirit of camaraderie and fun, there is also a Carbo Loading Party on the 8th at The Terraces, Ayala Center. Interested participants can pay P150 with 1 free drink and gorge carbo-load with food prepared by La Tegola, The Gustavian, Bigby’s, Spaghetti Factory, T.G.I.F. and Don Henrico’s.

The 42K race route for the Cebu City Marathon 2010

Four days to go for the Cebu City Marathon 2010! For racers and spectators alike, the routes for the 5K, 21K and the grueling 42K as well as the regulations are now posted.

Among the rules, the following points are important:

• No race bib, no entrance
• no wheeled vehicles are allowed in the racecourse between 0400H and 0930H
• only registered participants allowed on the race route
• 7 hour cut off time for the 42K
• no chip, no time
• to discourage (?) protest, a protest filing fee of P1,000 is levied

One sure interesting thing about this marathon is that its the first outside Manila that ChampionChip sensors will be used by the participants (except for the 5k) in an official race. This will ensure accurate and on the dot timing.

The marathon consists of three distances:

• 42K or the full marathon is the toughest, starts at 0400H
• 21K or the half marathon, starts at 0500H and
• 5K, starts at 0600H

All races start and end at the Asiatown IT Park in Cebu City.
